Happy Father’s Day! Have some new releases.

There’s not much I’m looking forward to in the coming three weeks. Only Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition really interests me. This has probably to do with the fact that I never bought Super SFIV. Oh well, it is the Summer months after all.

New Releases 2011: March 27-April 16

newreleases032711

I would say the release of the 3DS this next week is the reason for so many games, but in reality most aren’t for said system. It’s just ridiculously stacked as this can easily be two weeks worth. It’s a good thing this is the case since the following week of April 3rd doesn’t have a single thing of note. Because of this the second list below is three weeks from now.

The interesting games of these three weeks for me are Rush’N Attack Ex-Patriot and WWE All Stars. Shift 2 Unleashed is another one, but it’s suddenly upon us. Talk about little to no marketing by EA.

NEW RELEASES for the WEEK of 3/27
Back to the Future: The Game – Episode II: Get Tannen! (PS3)
Bust-A-Move Universe (3DS)
Dynasty Warriors 7 (PS3, X360)

New Releases 2009: April 26-May 9

newreleases042609

Alright, back again. Today it’s time for another edition of New Releases. Sure it’s a few days late for this week, but I figured why not since I didn’t do an entry for the previous two weeks.

My pick for this week has to be the great looking, and hopefully a great playing, X-Men Origins: Wolverine. For next week I’ll go with Klonoa with a little of Plants vs. Zombies even if it’s only for the catchy theme song (Japanese version).

NEW GAMES FOR THE WEEK OF 4/26
Banjo-Tooie (XBL)
Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce (PSP)
Nobunaga’s Ambition (WII)
Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier (DS)

Klonoa (WII)

New Play Control! Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (WII)
Patapon 2 (PSP)
Plants vs. Zombies (PC)
Puzzle Kingdoms (DS)

Anything look good to you?

Like always, I’ll put up another blog here soon. So thanks for reading.

New Releases 2008: November 16-22

newreleases111608

I was going to do this week and next week together this time, but when I looked at what was being released, it looked like a normal amount for three weeks! So for the occasion I upped the “3 Big Games” to 5.

For my pick this week I could go for a number of titles in that huge list below. However, I’ll settle for two. One big game and one pick-up-and-play game. The “casual” game that sticks out to me is Metal Slug 7. The big title is going to have to be Tomb Raider Underworld. I never went near a Tomb Raider game until the revamp with Legend and now I can’t seem to get away.

Enough of my jibba-jabba. What’s your pick for this week (even if you get it later)?

THIS WEEK’S 5 BIG GAMES
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (PS3, X360)
Tomb Raider Underworld (X360, PC, PS3, WII, DS)
Sonic Unleashed (PS3, X360)
Left 4 Dead (X360, PC)
Castlevania Judgment (WII)

THIS WEEK’S HONORABLE MENTIONS
Alone in the Dark: Inferno (PS3)
Burnout Anthology (PS2)
Dynasty Warriors 6 (PS2, PC)
EverQuest II: The Shadow Odyssey (PC)
Metal Slug 7 (DS)
Need for Speed Undercover (X360, PC, PS3, PS2, DS, PSP, WII)
Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir (PC)
Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party (WII, DS)
Shaun White Snowboarding (X360, PC, PS3, PS2, WII [as Road Trip], DS, PSP)
Skate It (DS, WII)
Tecmo Bowl: Kickoff (DS)
The Last Remnant (X360)

Koei Has Standards

koei-has-standards

With the amazing lack of new ideas coming out of Koei for years now, it was great to see what X-Play’s take on their corporate strategy meeting is like. Think innovation as the same as more sequels. Then you get the picture. Remember they have standards! (lol)

Now Playing: January ’08

nowplaying0108

It’s been a pretty fun month with the nine games that I’ve played. Let’s get to it.

First up is the fighting games which were, of course, played with some exciting vs. mode action. Mortal Kombat 4 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat were the two games this month where Usagi704 and myself went at it. MK4 was in 2-on-2 vs. mode and the newly bought UMK on the DS was fun online and off.

The games that I played the least of were Driver and Dynasty Warriors 3. In Driver, I simply played for a few minutes setting some high scores in the cross-town checkpoint driving game. Over on DW3, I played a quick mission in free mode, but I doubt that 35 minutes is all that quick.

After playing Twisted Metal: Black for only a few minutes the verdict was in…this game is HARD and then you get out the cheats and actually have some fun. :P I played through the story mode with each and every character. I found Sweet Tooth and the Preacher’s stories to be the best of the bunch.

I achieved two things with Contra and Super C. For Contra I beat the game without the 30 lives code and only died once. In Super C, I finished the domestic version with the 10 lives code and continuing only once. A few days later a beat it again with the code, but this time without using a continue.

Now we come to the game of the month. I did play quite a bit of Burnout Paradise (PS3), even completing a number of three-player challenges online with VixDiesel and s0njas0n.

That’s not the game of the month, however. That honor would have to go to the NES classic Ninja Gaiden. I played the game throughout the month on both the NES and Famicom. For years the farthest stage I was able to reach was 5-3. Now I’m always able to get to stage 6-2! You know that stage 6-2 is really difficult if there exists an FAQ that’s solely for helping gamers with that stage.

That’s it for now. Check back for my next two blog entries. The first one will show my four newly acquired games and the second one will ask about Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
