newreleases090411

Over the next three weeks there’s quite a number of new big releases along with several reissues of past titles.

Of the former I’m mostly looking forward to Driver: San Francisco, but my excitement has decreased since trying the demo. However, I haven’t ruled it out yet.

It’s not surprising, to those who know me, that of the latter category I’m quite interested in God of War Origins Collection. When looking through the release list I wasn’t expecting to come across Mega Man Dual Pack for the PSP which includes Mega Man Maverick Hunter X and Mega Man Powered Up.

Anything you find interesting below?

WEEK of 9/4
BloodRayne: Betrayal (PS3)
Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten (PS3)

BORDERLANDS
I just obtained my third ever platinum trophy thanks to the fun I had with Borderlands. Compared to the other two platinums from Burnout Paradise and God of War, this one was the least troublesome to get.

Trophies: 51 / 51 (100%)

Current total: 525 trophies; 73% of Level 9

ROLE-PLAYING GAMES
I was talking with a friend yesterday about RPGs and how lengthy those games tend to be compared to most other genres. Also, as most of you know, I’m not really much of an RPG fan. As such I’ve only played a scant few and finished even less of them. I’d play many more of them if they averaged 20 hours instead of 60-100 hours.

I realized that as much as I’d like to start playing Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES or Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, I noticed that I don’t because of the fact that these games are at least 60-80 hours and that doesn’t include any side missions. This is the main reason I’ve decided to part ways with 14 of these titles.

If anybody would like to purchase one or more of the following games from me please PM me with the titles of the ones you’re interested in. At that time I’ll provide you with photos of the product and the price. They’ve all been tested and are in working order. Any major wear and tear on them were from previous owners.

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance (PS2)
Beggar Prince (GEN)
Chrono Cross (PS)
Chrono Trigger (SNES)
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (PS2)
Dragon Warrior III (GBC)
Final Fantasy (NES)
Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest (SNES)
Final Fantasy IX (PS)
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (GBA)
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening (GB)
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages (GBC)
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES (PS2)

Thanks for reading and have a fantastic day!

New Releases 2009: Sept. 20-Oct. 3

newreleases092009

Another set of new releases for another two week shot and the outlook is pretty varied.

With that said I know that to a majority of gamers the new Halo game is the only thing on their radar. The rest of the games are non-existent to them. I guess that makes sense to a degree with only Zombie Apocalypse being the other game coming out on the Xbox system.

On the other hand, all PlayStation platforms are seeing no less than 12 games in the next fortnight.

My pick would have to be MotorStorm: Arctic Edge. I don’t know if I’ll be getting it for the PSP or PS2. Regardless, I’m very interested to see how it comes out on the less powerful systems.

NEW GAMES FOR THE WEEK OF 9/20
Fallout 3: Broken Steel (PSN)
Halo 3: ODST (X360)
Katamari Forever (PS3)
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona (PSP)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash-Up (WII)
Zombie Apocalypse (PSN, XBL)

NEW GAMES FOR THE WEEK OF 9/27
Dead Space Extraction (WII)
Fallout 3: Operation Anchorage (PSN)
Fallout 3: The Pitt (PSN)
Gran Turismo (PSP)
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (DS)
MotorStorm: Arctic Edge (PSP)
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 (PS3)
Obscure: The Aftermath (PSP)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash-Up (PS2)
Undead Knights (PSP)

I’ll leave you with a few interesting recent items from my twitter account.

* Tricky bastards with their renaming of the Genesis version of Gauntlet to Gauntlet IV.
* For some reason when I read Joystiq’s “What’s In A Name” post title I keep saying it in the same way as the “What is a man” line from SotN.
* Fav. obscure NES games. Metal Storm, P.O.W., Power Blade, Shadow of the Ninja, Super Spike V’Ball, Code Name: Viper, Heavy Barrel, Shatterhand, Star Force, Vice: Project Doom.
* Terrible box art: The Orange Box.
* Favorite Game Music: Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers – Downtown (SNES).
* ESPN eXtreme Games: It’s more extreme than spilling your morning coffee on your car!
* Played some of Usagi704’s newly acquired copy of Street Fighter Alpha for the GBC. Also beat it first time playing it. Final score with Sagat: 1.03 million! 37th game beat this year.
* Favorite video game music: Crystal Castle theme from Konami’s Castlevania II: Belmont’s Revenge.
