YouTube, a Subsidiary of Google

youtube-subsidiary-of-google

Earth to the nerds. It’s Google not YouTube who’s in talks to purchase Twitch.tv from CBS Interactive. YouTube is simply a property of Google. Now that we’ve got that small, but important detail out of the way. Let’s talk about Google itself.

The thought that Google is this caring company is still a thing in the zeitgeist. Well it time for your wake up call. They are a huge corporation and they don’t give a single shit about you. Like with all other corporations, their master is money and the only reason they still pretend to care about you is because you have the key to your money. If they could take your money without needing your permission they’d drop the pretense immediately. You’re nothing but a meatbag with money and they want it.

One way to get more and more money is to kill off their competition. Google has been getting its ass whooped by Twitch. Instead of this competition being motivation for innovation and bettering their live streaming on YouTube, they just figured they’ll purchase their competitor. No need to actually do work to make something better. Just buy the good stuff and make it shit.

Some people who don’t care about live streaming will say that this purchase doesn’t matter. I don’t care about the live streaming either. This is all about the big problem of a few companies owning everything. Remember how Comcast wants to merge with Time Warner? Well Google acquiring Twitch is the same thing. Did you even hear about AT&T buying DirectTV? It happened too quietly.

Thanks for reading, but don’t fool yourself into thinking these companies care about you.
