You Can’t Beat 100%

In the last month or more I’ve been on a game-free diet of mainly movies as I had explained at the time in Now Playing: April 2016. Despite this I haven’t stopped buying games. I’ve bought five more that have been stuck on my wish list for awhile.

Back in March I tried to get both of the newest Wolfenstein games with only a 50% success rate. I completed in getting the missing The New Order this time. I did a redundant buy as well with the Far Cry Compilation. It includes Far Cry 2, 3, and Blood Dragon. As you might remember, I played and finished both FC3 and Blood Dragon last year. So did I get this compilation for Far Cry 2? Nope. I got it for Blood Dragon. I wanted it on a disc for the impending offline of PS3 on PSN. The disc plays FC3 from it with installers for the other two games. If you’ve experience with other three-game packs from Ubisoft, then you know what I’m talking about.

The other games are WayForward’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Danger of the Ooze, the FC3 sequel Far Cry 4, and the return of Rico Rodriguez in Just Cause 3.

Thanks for catching up with me. Take care!

Back With A Revengenance!

back-with-a-revengance

I’m back. My new PC is up and running “gud” so it’s time to get back to business.

In the coming weeks you’ll get new episodes of both the Hart & Usagi and Space Suplex podcasts. Along with that I’ll also be coming soon with an update on my gaming progress (or lack of it, as the case may be). This update will focus on the purchases I’ve made during the weeks of downtime.

First up is new games!

I picked up Hotline Miami on the PlayStation Network for just $2.00. It gave me versions for the PS3, PS4, and Vita. Of Wolfenstein I got a local copy of The Old Blood. I would’ve had The New Order at the same time, but the case was broken and Best Buy didn’t have an copies to replace it. A new PSP was acquired too. This was a third import of the Kamen Rider Climax Heroes series entitled Kamen Rider Chou Climax Heroes.

Onto newly bought movies!

I picked up Boyz n the Hood soon after seeing Straight Outta Compton in the theater last year, which I also bought. Both are very good and worth seeing.

Usagi704 improved his collection with a Steelbook of Casino as did I with For Your Eyes Only. I took the older version of the former film off of him for a bargain bin price.

On DVD is how I original saw The Mechanic (1972). It was on one of those very cheap three film sets on one disc deals. I upgraded to a stand-alone Blu-ray for ultimate in picture quality along with extras like my beloved commentary.

Other movies I got were: Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, The Legend of Billie Jean, Air Force One, and Samurai Pizza Cats (a 52 episode cartoon show).

Act Fast and Think Faster

act-fast-and-think-faster

Since I have a much smaller amount of games on my wish list than, say, in 2007, I usually strike out on finding anything at my local game store, It’s About Games. I was pleasantly surprised this time when I found Wolfenstein, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and The House of the Dead: Overkill. It was made even more sweet as a three for two deal.

Another place I stopped a few days later had some used DVDs and all seasons of MacGyver were accounted for. I remember the show growing up, but never seeked it out to watch all that much. Regardless, we’d still joke about building a bomb out of a paper clip and some bubble gum. I ended up picking up season four just because it was the cheapest price of them all. It happens to star Teri Hatcher in its first episode with big ’80s hair and all.
