I also got my first two platinum trophies within the previous 12 months. The first one came along back in March with Burnout Paradise and the second one was captured more recently in November with God of War.

In some interesting trivia about my game collection (idea from DuncanR2N), the oldest game I own is Dodge ‘Em for the Atari 2600. This is an estimate since it’s extremely hard to find more than just the year of 1980 for a release date. GameSpot has it listed for 1978 so it’s obviously not known for sure.

The newest game I own is a lot easier to look up. It would be Pandemic’s final game The Saboteur which was released a month ago.

On my wish list the oldest game that I’m looking to get is the NES version of Konami’s Gradius which was released on December 1, 1986.

The newest game that I’d like to have (mainly because I’m a big fan of beat-’em-up games) is Revenge of the Wounded Dragons on the PSN. It was released 23 years and 9 days after Gradius on December 10, 2009.

Coming up soon I’ll have my Game of the Year announced. Game on!

This last month was great as I was knocking out a bunch of my unfinished games. Another four have fallen: Burnout Revenge, Unreal Tournament, Crash Bandicoot: Warped, and Puzzle Quest!

I also managed to complete Tekken Dark Resurrection, The Punisher, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, and Street Fighter Alpha.

Tekken on the PSP ended up being my Game of the Month for being really fun in single player and against Usagi704. I focused on getting better with Dragunov and started getting a hang of Kazuya and Paul Pheonix. I’m not exactly hot stuff, but I have managed to get the basics down.

Street Fighter Alpha was recently purchased by Usagi704 and it was the first time that I was able to play this interesting Game Boy Color port. I beat it during my first play-through and scored just over one million point with Sagat.

I wasn’t as successful with my newly aquired copy of Castlevania II: Belmont’s Revenge, though I was able to get up to the second part of Dracula’s castle. The game’s pretty easy overall until that point where the game seems to hit a difficulty spike.

I’m glad that I was able to finally, after about two months, to finish The Punisher. Playing it was getting kind of monotonous so I glad that I can move on from it. All 37 parts of my Let’s Play of the game are now available for viewing.

Finally I quickly wanted to mention that I had spotted Metal Gear Solid VR Missions for $3 locally. I picked it up with the knowledge that it normally goes for six times that amount.

Pop That In and Play Some Of That

play-some-of-that

It’s been awhile since I’ve updated you all on the videos that I’ve made since the end of July.

The Punisher, Let’s Play It! parts 14-27
This is linking to the same playlist that I’ve been attaching all of these Let’s Play videos to. I’ve uploaded a number of new entries over the last few days since I want to get this mediocre game over with.

I already have a quick intro to the next game I’m going to be doing completed and waiting. That game will be Ninja Gaiden. I just can’t get enough of that game even though I’ll probably never beat it, but I’m fine with that.

Shiny Sega Genesis & Sega CD
This is a showing of my Sega Genesis and Sega CD after I cleaned it up as shown in the following linked video by lukemorse1.

Pop That In and Play Some Of That – Raiden (Genesis)
A quick video of gameplay of Raiden for the Genesis. I play until all of my lives are depleted.

The Punisher (PS2) General Keikoff cutscene
When I was playing the jungle mission of The Punisher, I came across this cutscene. It has the most ridiculous quote in a video game that I’ve ever heard.

Now Playing: August ’09

Here’s the quick list of what I’ve been playing.

Jackal (NES)
Ninja Gaiden (NES)
Retro Game Challenge (DS)

Sega Genesis Collection (PSP)
The King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match (PS2)
The Punisher (PS2)

For the usual details check out this video.

I want to thank everybody who voted in my last blog post for the game that I’ll look for to purchase some time in the next month.

The winner is Castlevania II: Belmont’s Revenge!

9 – Castlevania II (GB)
7 – Einhander (PS)
6 – Double Dragon II (GB)
4 – Wild Guns (SNES)

Not to worry for those that may still want to cast their votes. You can do that in the comments section for this post.

Again thanks for voting and watching the video. Later!

The Game of the Month award makes its return for this month’s Now Playing.

The game that’s worthy of the award is the fantastic Crash Commando for the PlayStation Network. I really enjoyed the demo and I was about to pay the full $10 for the game until it went on sale for a week at $5. I snatched that up real quick and the online play has been a blast. It’s back up to $10, but still worth it.

Over the past month I somehow was able to keep with Mercenaries 2: World in Flames until I finished the game. Now that it’s out of the way I can play a game that’s at least a little better in that there’s not a ton of glitches.

I’ve also started Fracture, but not recently. I’m sure that I probably would’ve been done with it already, but I made Mercenaries 2 and The Punisher more of a priority. Fracture’s a fairly decent game, but don’t go paying much for it since the online portion of the game is dead at this point.

Speaking of The Punisher, I added another three videos to this ongoing Let’s Play of the game that I’m doing. Part 13 has a really easy battle with a tank since you can lob grenades with a grenade launcher over the cover that’s provided as you’ll see me do in the video.

Finally, the high score challenge that’s been done in the past over on retrowaretv.com’s forums has started up again. The most recent one was Balloon Fight where I scored 50,250. Granted that was just my first and only try. The top score was 428,000. Crazy!

That about does it for me. Until next time, you guys take it easy. :)

Ninja Gaiden II: Gaming Trash – Part 6

If you’re thinking that this blog post is going to be about how awful I think Ninja Gaiden II on the Xbox 360 is, then you’re hugely mistaken.

This is another installment of ongoing battle with sticker ridden used games. The game that was cleaned up this time is Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos on the NES.

The game only cost me $5 which probably had to do with the said stickers all over it. I now present to you the before and after photos.

Finally, I’d like to call your attention to part 9 and part 10 of my Let’s Play series of The Punisher. Enjoy.
