Fun Times In Movie & Game World 2

More fun times getting damaged product. This time it was a Blu-ray copy of The Transporter. As usual with Amazon, they think all you need for padding your items during shipment is the box itself. They really need to get their heads out of their asses and add padding to the packages they ship out. They can use old newspaper if they really can’t afford bubble wrap. However, $239 million in just the last quarter of 2013 alone says they can afford it!

On the up side my copy of Mortal Kombat did have everything on the disc the back cover mentioned unlike last time.

***************************************************************
PLEASE NOTE: This is my comments from Twitter that I made as the conference happened. If you can’t handle a difference of opinion from your own, then please DO NOT read this or comment.
***************************************************************

* “Global media” making them sound important. As if.

HALO 4
* Hey, look! It’s Halo 4. Their only offering for this year.

* Looks like a “visor view” in this one. Metroid Prime called…

* RT @SonicHomeboy: LOL I’m loving the Metroid Prime references on these Tweets. I couldn’t agree more really.
Reply::And here I thought I was being original.

SPLINTER CELL: BLACKLIST
* Mastering abilities just means press a button, watch animation.

* They’re in the Middle East. So topical. Also, Arabs always speak English. These are someone’s “facts.”

* EA Sports segment = boring segment. #amirite?

MADDEN ’13
* Joe Montana on stage for Madden 13 demo.

* Joe says “hike” and the delay was really awkward.

* More softcore games on Kinect like Fable: The Journey.

* YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THAT YOU CAN’T FIND IT ANYWHERE ELSE BUT ON XBOX, DAMMIT!

GEARS OF WAR: JUDGMENT
* More Gears of War. CliffyB wants to milk this series dry and you’d better like it!

* Subtitled Judgment. Nice and over used word.

* RT @Casey_Malone: Thank god that even in the post-apocalyptic Earth of Gears of War, there will still be hairdressers to frost people’s tips.

FORZA: HORIZON
* Forza: Horizon. Drop that “Motorsport.”

RANDOM ENTERLAMEMENT
* AT XBOX WE LOVE ENTERTAINMENT! What’s your problem? Why don’t you?

* Bing is a horrible search. DuckDuckGo.com, d00ds!

* Applause for a Bing search. Audience needs shot.

* I’m glad they have TV shows because I wouldn’t be able to get it ANYWHERE ELSE…like, you know, a damn TV.

* I love whatever MS tells me to like.

* Kinect does not make you creative. >_>

* More sports assrape with Nike now. What’s the damn point of this?!

* “Can you imagine being without Xbox Live?” Yes, I can. I live it everyday. Better off, too.

* RT @usagi704: I think they forgot who they are talking to. HINT: It isn’t the most athletically minded people.

* Hey, @Microsoft (@Xbox)! I think you forgot about the games for your video game console.

* I’m not asking about the “web on Xbox.” Don’t need it. It’s on my PC!

* Internet Exploder for Xbox now. Are they trying to further red ring customer’s systems?

* RT @lightwarrior179: Internet Explorer. Also known as “I was raped by toolbars and popups so now I just hang myself for the world to see”

TOMB RAIDER
* Finally. Games! Again. Tomb Raider update.

* A quick look at Ascend: New Gods, LocoCycle, & Matter.

RESIDENT EVIL 6
* RT @6h05tly: Resident Evil 6: I’m scared to even watch what the series has become.
Reply::A game about RE’s decent away from survivor horror is more horrifying than the series these days,

* Capcom of Japan is still trying to make a Western game.

WRECKATEER
* RT @alex_navarro: This girl looks just a little too pleased to be giving this Wreckateer demo.

DANCE CENTRAL 3
* Usher and dancing. Not giving a single care.

* RT @lightwarrior179: Usher is here. Kindly USHER him out of here!
Reply::Why didn’t I think of that joke? XD

CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS II
* It’s Call of Duty all year every year for most gamers. I’m still wondering when they will be tired of this. I am.

* And with an extended view of “Big, Bang, Boom” MS is done.

New Releases 2011: Week of Sept. 25

This looks like the week of rereleases, but at least they’re all good. You could easily spend a bundle of money on just these reissues of Phantasy Star on PSP, Code Veronica X, ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, and Splinter Cell.

My pick is one of the final DS games worth getting: Solatorobo. It has a connection to a 1999 PS1 game called Tail Concerto by the same developer.

Being a fan of the Contra series, I’m excited for Hard Corps: Uprising. I’ll just have to wait a bit longer for the PS3 version. With Splinter Cell: Conviction getting a release on the Macintosh I’m holding out some hope a PS3 port is in the cards at some point.

Okay, enough of what I wish to happen and onto what is happening that I’m interested in.

As I mentioned in my previous blog post, I’m not looking to get Marvel vs. Capcom 3 at the moment. But I did hear it doesn’t play as close to its prequel as it does play more like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. Still I’m not totally against eventually giving this game a look.

As with any game which gets a bad rap from shit mongers like Fox News, I will be getting a new copy of Bulletstorm at some point. Knowingly lying by saying such dumb shit from so-called “experts” like this game will make you want to rape will get any game my full support.

The Dreamcast Collection for the Xbox 360 consists of Sega Bass Fishing, Sonic Adventure, Space Channel 5 Part 2, and Crazy Taxi for anybody wondering what’s included.

One Game Is Not Enough

1game-notenough

The following is my reply to the blog post “Stop Single Game Syndrome” on Substance TV.com.

I’m definitely all about new/unique/different gaming experiences or at the very least more of them.

I was never a fan or even interested in the Tomb Raider series. However, I got interested once I saw Tomb Raider: Legend in action. I picked it up and was happy I did. In fact, Tomb Raider: Anniversary (finished too) and Underworld are similar so I’ve since picked them up.

I’ve also tried other games that I wouldn’t normal bother with that didn’t go over so well. The two that come to mind is Psychonauts and Splinter Cell. The former was a big collect-a-thon and I’m not into those kinds of games. The latter was too strict on the stealth which lead to a not-so-enjoyable experience. At least I gave those games a try. I have since bought the third Splinter Cell game, Chaos Theory, to see if I like it more.

Another great example is Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. I never liked any of the 2D games so I didn’t think to look at this game when it came out. In 2006 I decided to give the game a shot. Not only did I like it a lot, I also bought Warrior Within and The Two Thrones soon after. I even did three speed runs of the game back-to-back with my best time being just under three hours. On top of that I’ve bought the PSP versions of the latter two games renamed Revelations and Rival Swords, respectively. The 2008 game was a big letdown with the frustrating combat. The Forgotten Sands looks to be a return to form for the series, which I greatly approve of.

With my most recent purchases I picked up Alter Echo which looked interesting after seeing some gameplay videos. I even decided to get the PS2 Shinobi game and Urban Reign, if I can ever find it, because your show made them look so good. :)

Fourth Platinum!

GOD OF WAR II
Just a few hours after I posted my previous blog update about only one Challenge of the Titans mission away from getting my fourth platinum trophy, I ended up giving it a couple more tries and raising my hands in victory.

WISH LIST
I was taking a look at videos of GBA games on my wish list to see if I should still get them. A majority of them were good to great and I kept them on. Both of the Ecks vs. Sever games were removed along with another one that I can’t remember at this moment. I also added four to the list.

Gradius Galaxies was the best looking of the bunch and since I really like the series I couldn’t say no.

Medal of Honor: Infiltrator played more like Ikari Warriors than the FPS games it’s known for.

Ghost Rider was based on that not-so-great Nicolas Cage film from 2007. The difference being that this portable version was overall way better and looks it too.

Splinter Cell wasn’t easy for me on the PS2, but the GBA game seems like I could get a handle on its more simplistic style.

Hyperzone was the lone SNES game that I added and it’s a shoot-’em-up game in the style of Space Harrier. It looked and sounded very familiar to me despite the name of the game not jogging any memories.

As always thanks for reading!

Since a couple of you asked and probably a few more are still interested, I can answer the question you had. “Were there people online to play with and against?”

For the most part the answer was “yes” even though it was sparse. A few games didn’t have anyone on, but I was able to connect and check out the rankings on the leaderboard.

The only one I couldn’t get on that was up and running was Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal. It kept denying me because the username I entered was the same, though I thought that was the point, you know, to be consistent.

Below are the games linked to images I took when I originally went through the games.

Battlefield 2: Modern Combat
Burnout 3: Takedown
Call of Duty 2: Big Red One
Call of Duty 3
Champions: Return To Arms
Flatout 2
Midnight Club II
Mortal Kombat: Armageddon
Ratchet: Deadlocked
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Urban Chaos: Riot Response

ONLINE PS2 GAMES
Recently I was wondering if any of my online enabled PS2 games would still have that service up and running. To my surprise quite a number of them still do. Sure it’s less than half, but it still amazed me that 12 of 20 games worked online.

There was one thing that was consistent with my findings. If GameSpy operated the online servers, you could guarantee that those games would still be playable.

Battlefield 2: Modern Combat
Burnout 3: Takedown
Call of Duty 2: Big Red One
Call of Duty 3
Champions: Return To Arms
Flatout 2
Midnight Club II
Mortal Kombat: Armageddon
Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal
Ratchet: Deadlocked
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Urban Chaos: Riot Response

EA games seemed to be the ones that were the least likely to work. However it was odd that of the Burnout games tested Takedown worked while Revenge didn’t as you can see below in the list of games shut down.

Burnout Revenge
Everything or Nothing
Goldeneye: Rogue Agent
NFL Street 2
OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast
Project: Snowblind
TimeSplitters: Future Perfect
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

SYSTEM LINK PS1 GAMES
In similar news, I was looking for a list of games that were system link compatible for the original PlayStation system since Usagi704 did buy the cable and I had got one of the original models.

Unfortunately there’s only apparently 30 games that have this option, as listed on Wikipedia, with quite a few being racing games of some type.

Of that list, I have Destruction Derby, Doom, Final Doom, and R4: Ridge Racer Type 4. I’m looking into a few of the others like The Need For Speed, Rogue Trip: Vacation 2012, and Armored Core among a couple more.

BORDERLANDS
Since my last blog post I’ve found some more fun to be had with Borderlands. I’m much quicker when comparing weapons and items and I don’t feel as much like a weakling anymore, though it still happens from time to time. Level 13 must be where the magic is. My current level is 20.
