Lacking Interest

Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams is a problematic game I was playing recently. I say “was” because I’m not anymore. I advanced the furthest to stage 4 and even started over at one point, but the problems I explained about previously didn’t get better or more bearable. When I was watching Usagi704 play later parts of the game it only confirmed my feelings that I probably wouldn’t have a whole lot of fun.

It’s quite interesting how powerful the characters can get in Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams upon seeing a few minutes of a new game plus speed run I saw on YouTube. Seeing as where you start out at it seems like you have to grind out levels as if this was a role-playing game. I’m not a fan of that and have since moved on.

Ever since I started to play Muramasa: The Demon Blade I’ve been kind of feeling out of it as far as gaming has gone. It would explain for my frustrations with these two games and my unwillingness to put up with what the games offer. I feel almost as if I just want to start a game up and immediately press the win button and not bother with earning that win. I even started up Zombie Apocalypse: Never Die Alone last night and I got disinterested in that game pretty quickly. Granted that Konami title isn’t good anyway.

I’m not typing this up for people to read and give me any sympathy though I’m sure it looks like it. At least I am having some fun with the shoot-’em-up Soldner-X 2: Final Prototype.

Have you ever been in a gaming rut where you want to play something, but nothing seems to catch your interest when otherwise it would? Share below and thanks for reading!

Little To No Purchases

It’s something of a surprise since it doesn’t happen very often, but I’ve gone one month without a single game purchase. I’ve certainly added games to my wish list in the meantime like God Hand and more recent releases like Moon Diver. Along with the games below I also added a third Game Boy Advance SP to the collection in early February. I have a feeling these 16 games are still more than most have bought this year or maybe I’m just being a bit cocky. :P

Prince of Persia Trilogy HD (PS3 import)

Soldner-X 2: Final Prototype (PSN)
Shatter (PSN)
Peggle (PSN)
Burnout 2: Point of Impact (PS2)
Run Saber (SNES)
X2: Wolverine’s Revenge (GBA)
Crash Bandicoot 2: N-Tranced (GBA)
RayCrisis: Series Termination (PS)
Elebits: The Adventures of Kai and Zero (DS)

The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return (WII)
Gradius Collection (PSP)
Yakuza 4 (PS3)
Tetris (PSN)
Super Hang-On (GEN)
Kamen Rider Climax Heroes OOO (PSP import)

Shattering The Burnout Blues

I want to start of by quickly mentioning that I’m a bit bummed by the recent announcement by Ubisoft. They decided, after previously saying it wouldn’t likely get a retail release in North America, to make the Prince of Persia Trilogy available on Blu-ray coming March 22nd. At $40 I could’ve saved some of the money I spent on importing it. Oh well not much I can do now. Time for new stuff!

First up is a few new games bought off of the PlayStation Store. They had a sale for 11 games last week and three of them, Soldner-X 2: Final Prototype, Shatter, and Peggle, were ones I’ve been interested in. It’s too bad they didn’t also offer a deal on Rocket Knight.

Also locally I picked up Burnout 2: Point of Impact for PS2 and a third Game Boy Advance SP. This time it’s blue and in great condition.

Finally I did a trade-in only order with eStarland. I have 35 Atari 2600 games and eight of them were about $1 or more. So those were the few I shipped off to them.

Plaque Attack @ $1.05
Frostbite @ $1.20
Oink @ $2.00
Pressure Cooker @ $3.50
Raft Rider @ $4.00
Wall Ball @ $10.00
Shuttle Orbiter @ $17.50
Rubik’s Cube @ $25.00

Hopefully all of these cartridges still work since I didn’t have any system to test them on beforehand. I do expect to lose out a little bit on Shuttle Orbiter because the cart was broken in two spots, but does look like it can still fit in fine.

Thanks for reading.

New Releases 2010: May 23-June 5

Let me just say that this month has proven to be nuts when it comes to new game releases. It’s one of those “I want them all,” but you decidedly know that won’t be possible unless you can spare a few hundred dollars.

As far as the latter half of May goes, Blur and Soldner-X 2 both look interesting. I wasn’t all that taken in by the demo for ModNation Racers. The steering of the karts was very loose. Much more so than I’d like. I’m also not a fan of drifting being on a button. I’d prefer it as a technique that’s learned over time.

I suspect that Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be the one game wanted more than all others. So I guess my question to you is which game will you possibly get to accompany SMG2?

Blur (PS3, PC, X360)
Metal Torrent (DS)
ModNation Racers (PS3, PSP)
Soldner-X 2: Final Prototype (PS3)
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (WII)
Tetris Party Deluxe (WII, DS)
UFC 2010 Undisputed (PS3, X360)

Alpha Protocol (PS3, PC, X360)
Backbreaker (PS3, X360)
Green Day: Rock Band (PS3, X360)
Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow (PS2)
The Sims 3: Ambitions (PC, MAC)
