Favorite Game Music

favorite-game-music

Recently I was throwing updates onto twitter about some of my favorite game music. I figured I’d share that with everyone on my blog.

Now just so you know this won’t be listing anything hugely popular like Final Fantasy music or the like. In fact most of the time I don’t remember much of the music from the games that I play. I usually have to hear them afterwards to remember that I liked it.

Without further ado, here’s 11 selections of game music that I like.

* Mr. Big stage theme from SNK’s Art of Fighting (SNES)
* Taito’s puzzle game Cleopatra Fortune (Arcade)
* Title theme to Sunsoft’s Journey to Silius/Raf World (NES)
* Act 4-2 of Tecmo’s Ninja Gaiden/Shadow Warriors (NES)
* Act 2-1 of Tecmo’s Ninja Gaiden/Shadow Warriors (NES)
* Act 2-2 of Tecmo’s Ninja Gaiden/Shadow Warriors (NES)
* Stage 1-1 of Konami’s Rocket Knight Adventures (GEN)
* Simon’s theme from Konami’s Super Castlevania IV (SNES)
* Heart of Fire from Konami’s Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (GBA)
* Festival stage theme from Namco’s Tekken: Dark Resurrection (PSP)
* Snow Field from Konami’s Contra/Probotector (NES)

Retro Revival Week – Day 5: Wolfenstein 3D

rrw7-5-wolfenstein3d

I’m sure right away you’re all wondering where Duke Nukem: Time To Kill is. After all, I did mention that it was going to be the game for Day 5. Well, it was MIA because I didn’t have time to get to anything for the day. That seems to happen once for every Retro Revival Week if I remember correctly. Oh well. At least I have something for your viewing pleasure even if it’s not being played by me.

This video was a spur of the moment deal where I found Usagi704 playing his PlayStation 3 and on it was the just released PSN version of Wolfenstein 3D. Since the game was a re-release it counted for RRW. So I asked if he minded if I recorded some footage. He was cool with it so here it is. Sorry for the poor audio quality. Usagi is pretty difficult to hear, but I come through really well being closer to the camera.

Since I didn’t have anything this time I’ll throw in a bonus. This right here is the in-game music from the 1996 Taito arcade puzzle game Cleopatra Fortune. It’s a really catchy tune that I think you’ll enjoy.

RETRO GOODNESS FROM CO-HOST DARKBEAT
* More run and gun arcade action with Battle Rangers (aka Bloody Wolf).

Super Punch-Out is ready for Day 6. Am I? I guess we’ll see. Until then, retro rules!
