One response to “Hart & Usagi #92: Disgruntled CEO

  1. My future in gaming:
Every 5 years you work here, my company gives you a little bonus. I used my 10 year bonus to help buy a PS3. My 15 year bonus helped me buy a PS4. Next year is my 20th anniversary, so I will likely put that towards PS5. That’s what I’m hoping to do, but I still want to wait to see the details. What’s the strategy for the PS5, you know? Having disc-support is a plus so far.

There are a lot of shitty studios/publishers with shady practices and putting out incomplete games, but bad games aren’t new. Some people romanticise their good-ol’-days as being the time when games were still good, but they forget all the crap that came along with it. Every generation had a catalogue of shit. And shitty practices aren’t completely new either. Isn’t that why E.T. on Atari was a mess? You have to make a movie tie-in, it has to be out for the holidays, GET ON IT! I’m not saying it’s not worse, I’m just saying it’s not new. I’m not saying it shouldn’t stop, I’m just saying I’m not going to stop playing new stuff.

The trick to me is to focus on what’s great now, and not just 10 years from now when I’m looking back fondly and complaining about the state of things at the moment. It’s worth it to me to get to the Horizon Zero Dawns, God of Wars, Hell Blades, and Marvel Spider-mans. And I’ll keep not buying the Star Wars Battlefront 2s. That’s how I justify it I supposed.

Shinobi 3: I beat it on the Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection on PS3, but only by abusing the save-state feature.

Mortal Kombat: I think if for no other reason, it should be in the VGHoF because of the hard-to-resist urge to yell MORTAL KOMBAT! whenever you need to say the title.

    “Canada it’s yours now” – That… that’s okay thanks. We’ll pass.
